Nostalgia to Where I Don’t Belong
BY SARAH AlBaiz
I long for a place
Where I can take off my rose-tinted glasses
And still see pink.
I hope for a space
Where being myself isn’t such a disgrace
But rather would be embraced.
A place that I would call a home,
Or someone to go home to.
Someone to be home for.

Why are you looking for a place to belong to?
Or a person to create that home for you?
Do you give a person the agency to build your home,
Or do you just trust them enough to share your own?
But all the roses bloom within you,
Don’t you see the field of pink?
Aren’t those all the flowers you wanted?
Or are they the ones I wanted to see?
