FEBRUARY 2019, ISSUE 04
A Letter From The Editor
Dearest reader,
I hope this finds you well.
For my part, during the preparation of this issue, I wasn’t feeling well at all, and not knowing exactly why I felt that way made things even worse. When did that flame of excitement and spirit that spread within my heart extinguish? When did I go from scribbling down resolutions to feeling hopeless?
Things were made even more obscure and unclear when the process of putting the issue together proved difficult. New obstacles and delays and hindrances were arising by the second, and I was left defeated, confused and conflicted – should I even go through with this issue?
And although, at one point, I was convinced that not going through with it was the right choice, as I sit here, writing this carefully, I know that putting it out into the world is.
Whether you feel well, or not, or somewhere in-between, I hope this letter serves as a reminder that everything in life is temporary, the ups and the downs and the in-betweens. Whether you have a list of resolutions you dream of fulfilling, or if you don’t, I hope that the flame of exhilaration is alive and wild in your heart.
The Resolutions issue wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Halima, Kamelia, Sarah, Shayma, Rawa and Nouf. It wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the contributors. It wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t made the decision to go through with it. It wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.
Slowly, but surely, I can sense that warmth in my heart growing once more. I hope you can feel it, too.
Wishing you all the best,
Fatima Al Jarman
