My soul is the ocean:

under the clear surface lay obscurity,

deep below is where they hide.

My body is the land:

it’s visible to those around me,

open for unwanted judgement…

In some moments both natures collide,

visible in the healing scars.

Mirrors become the gateway to unwelcoming whispers.

When I’m exposed to one, they rush to the surface,

whispering all the things I don’t want to hear.

I was once weak to those whispers,

letting those voices incapsulate me.

But I learned every rose has its thorns,

and every body has its demons.
